EMCOTEK Corporation installed its first Model 130 ROTARY
ATOMIZINGTM Scrubber in a commercial application on oil
smoke control, in 1984. EMCOTEK's first regional infectious waste
incineration application, at a 700 lb/hr plant located in California, was
started up in January, 1988 to replace a lime-injected baghouse system.
The success of this scrubbing system has allowed the plant operator to
significantly increase waste burning capacity and minimize system
downtime. In addition, here is a list of some of our current and active
installations:

Medical Waste Management (MWM) operates a commercial medical waste processing facility
with an existing 3,000lb/hr autoclave. They added a new 1,500 lb/hr incinerator to
supplement their existing operations, Canadian law requires that certain waste be
incinerated and can not be disposed of in any other manner. Because the Canadian
Emission Limits are extremely stringent, MWM investigated several Air Pollution
Control Technologies, including baghouse dry scrubbers, and chose EMCOTEK because
of its reliable operating history and its proven success to satisfy these stringent
requirements, shown by tests at the ECU installation. The Model 250H-6600C-2T-C/F
ROTARY ATOMIZING Scrubber System includes an Enhanced CarbonFilter for the lowest
emissions possible of 0.003 gr/DSCF particulate and 0.006 ng/DSCM Dioxin/Furan TEQ
corrected to 11% O2.

This system was completed and turned over to the hospital on February 1991 and was
successfully tested each quarter for one year, then annually for 10 years. We
completed additional work to add sub-cooling to the scrubber to further improve
performance, greatly reducing visible moisture leaving the stack. These same
changes have lowered the particulate emissions to 0.011 gr/DSCF @7% O2, and HCl
to 0.4 ppm.

| DESCRIPTION: |
In January of 1988, EMCOTEK, at its expense, modified and installed a Model 130L-R&D
test unit that was in use at the EMCOTEK Visalia facility. The purpose of this
program was to test the technology at a commercial central incineration facility
for medical waste, removing the system after completion of the emission testing.
The particulate emission achieved average emissions of 0.027 gr/DSCF @12% CO2.
Because the unit passed their permit standards, there was financial incentive for
AEMC to purchase the unit and use it instead of the existing baghouse with lime
injection because of corrosion failure. The operators preferred using the EMCOTEK
system over using the baghouse because it is easier to operate, and is more
"forgiving" and "transparent" to the fluctuating fuel and operation of the
incinerator. One unique aspect of this system is that it has zero liquid blowdown
capability. We designed the water balance to be very tight and we have helped the
customer develop a successfully operating system that reinjects the treated blowdown
back into the incinerator, discharging the salts with the incinerator ash.
